1.- ABOUT THE CODEPAGES
=======================

This full pack contains 45 codepages.

Please check the CODEPAGE.TXT to know about the encoding these codepages
should be used for.

2.- HOW TO INSTALL THE CODEPAGES
================================

FreeDOS DISPLAY, as far as version 0.07, uses these RAW files as source of
information.

Future versions of DISPLAY may not use these versions, please check the
documentation accompaining your FreeDOS DISPLAY.

These codepages should be loaded using provided MODECON.EXE in the FreeDOS
DISPLAY package, but not in general with other MODE programs.

MODECON uses them when preparing a codepage.
For example:

MODECON CODEPAGE PREPARE 860 C:\NEW\PACKS\CP860.RAW

All 3-digit and 4-digit codepages will have leading zeros *on their names
only*, in order to make easier for an user to find them on the directory.
They continue to be loaded as usual. So:

MODECON CODEPAGE PREPARE 860 C:\NEW\PACKS\CP00860.RAW

3.- KNOWN ISSUES
================

None.

4.- CODEPAGES WITH 5-DIGIT NUMBERS
==================================

There are several encodings which lack an official codepage number,
regardless of the fact that they have been created by ISO, widely used
somewhere or created to be used in the web.

Some of them provide characters not found on commonly used, official
codepages.

Those 5-digit numbers are considered temporary; in case they change or
someone (i.e. ISO, IBM, MS, KOI) provides official codepage numbers for
those encodings, they will be also renumbered here to their new official
3- or 4-digit numbers. Also, if someone provides new official encodings
which provide the characters needed to assist languages which now are
assisted by those 5-digit encodings, they will also be encoded here AND
the keyboard layouts which are now based on the 5-digit encodings will be
redesigned to work with the new official ones.
